A team of six estate agent employees are swapping property for marathons to raise money for a Welsh cancer charity.

Team PA, made up of staff from branches of Peter Alan across South Wales are taking on this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for Cancer Research Wales.

Based at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff, the charity works to fund vital new research across the whole of Wales.

Team PA’s six members include Amy Hansen, a Marketing Co-ordinator, based in Cardiff , James Matthews, a Branch Manager in Newport; Kieron Cameron, a Negotiator in Newport; James Ayris, a Lettings Consultant, Rhian Taylor, a Negotiator in Cardiff and Mathew James, a former Peter Alan staff member.

The team’s members range from experienced half marathon runners, to those who had run no further than five kilometres six months ago.

More than 18,000 people are expected to run this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday October 14th.

Speaking about the challenge, Amy Hansen said: “We all wanted to take on the half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research Wales, as the work the charity funds is fantastic and really important.

“We’ve all been training as hard as we can and raising sponsorship through friends, family and colleagues.”

Liz Andrews, Charity Director at Cancer Research Wales said: “It’s great to see teams of workmates supporting the charity by running this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon. The event itself is gaining in popularity every year and we’re really grateful to everyone who has chosen to support Cancer Research Wales. All the money raised will stay in Wales to help in the fight against cancer.”
