Fishing enthusiasts encouraged to take to the water for charity

Fly fishing enthusiasts are being asked to sign up for an all Wales fishing competition in aid of Cancer Research Wales.
The Cancer Research Wales and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Championship Cup will take place on Sunday 20th May at Llandegfedd Reservoir, New Inn, Pontypool. It will be the seventh year running the popular contest which attracts both novice and expert fishermen from across South Wales has taken place.
Anyone can enter and all profits will go to Cancer Research Wales, based at Velindre Hospital in Whitchurch, to help fund pioneering research projects across Wales. One day’s bank fishing costs £15 and fishing from a boat is £28 per angler.
Last year’s event raised over £5,000 for the cancer charity.
Fundraising manager for Cancer Research Wales, Laura Hooper, said: “The event is hugely popular and we are delighted with all the support we receive from the South Wales fishing community. The money raised every year makes a huge contribution to our cause - we hope that this year’s event will be just as successful.”
