Holidays are coming, holidays are coming…
October 20, 2011
I know just a few weeks ago we were enjoying the beautiful sunshine and warm weather. But already the barbeques and sunbathing seem a long time ago, sound depressing? Not at all, because honestly here at Cancer Research Wales we are all geared up for Christmas.
I’ve heard it said that Christmas doesn’t start until Coca Cola air their famous seasonal TV advert and we all start singing ‘holidays are coming, holidays are coming’, but to us Christmas starts at the Royal Welsh Show and National Eisteddfod in July, when our first Charity Christmas Cards go on sale.
During September & October we’ll receive hundreds of Christmas Card Order Forms, from all over the country and a few from overseas as supporters from near and far wish to send Christmas wishes (or say Nadolig Llawen) whilst they support Cancer Research Wales.
This year we’ll be involved with Christmas Light Switch On’s, Christmas Coffee Mornings, Christmas Concerts and lots more. You will even have an opportunity to find a special Christmas Party Outfit at our annual Clothes Sale on Sunday 20th November. Extra events will pop up as we get closer to the festive season, so supporters should definitely take a regular look at our events page.
When does Christmas end for Cancer Research Wales? Well, probably with the last Christmas Gift that we wrap at Queens Arcade in Cardiff at our Christmas Gift Wrapping Service (Sunday 18th – Saturday 24th Dec 2011).
This is a wonderful event, one of my favourites (for those of you that read the CRW blog often, you’ll realise that I have a few favourites!). For a donation of your choosing, our team of staff and volunteers will wrap your gifts with paper and ribbon, and you can go away happy that you’ve supported a great charity at Christmas. And for the odd mince pie or Welsh cake, we’ll usually add a little extra ribbon (guaranteed to keep the kids occupied for an extra ten minutes on Christmas morning!!), just joking, honest!!
But seriously, we can make a difference with your support, money raised by Cancer Research Wales is not only looking to develop future treatments and preventatives, but is also benefiting those affected by cancer right now. So please remember Cancer Research Wales this Christmas, take part in our events, come and have your gifts wrapped or volunteer at our gift wrapping service. Festive fun guaranteed while you support a great cause.
Holidays are coming, holidays are coming…
