Show your colours in support of Cancer Research Wales

SWANSEA is set to be awash with colour this weekend; when walkers take part in a special charity fundraising event to help fight cancer in Wales.

The annual Cancer Research Wales Pink-a-Blue Walk takes place this Sunday (July 15th) - a 4.5 mile circuitous route from Verdi’s Ice Cream Parlour in Mumbles taking in Blackpill Lido with stunning views out to Swansea Bay.

All walkers are asked to wear pink, blue or both colours, to show support and raise awareness for the charity’s research into breast and prostate cancer. Men, women and children of all ages are encouraged to join in and dogs are welcome at the event too.

Breast and prostate cancer are two of the most common cancers affecting men and women in Wales. Cancer Research Wales funds vital and pioneering research into the disease. All the money raised in Wales stays in Wales to help continue funding groundbreaking research projects.

Walkers can expect a carnival atmosphere on the day, with the LC in Swansea setting off the walk with a Zumba-themed warm-up routine. Real Radio will also be broadcasting live there on the day, with presenters Jagger and Woody entertaining walkers, and Peter’s Foods will be on site with savoury treats for those taking part.

Cancer Research Wales charity director, Liz Andrews said: “We always have a fantastic turnout from our Swansea supporters at this event. It’s a great chance to get out and about in the fresh air with family and friends, while showing support and raising money for a cause that affects so many people in Wales.”

  • Entry is £5 person, and sponsor forms are provided for walkers who want to raise extra funds. To register please call Cancer Research Wales on 029 2031 6976 or visit www.crw.org.uk Walkers are also welcome to register on the day, from 10am at Verdi’s Ice Cream Parlour.
