Spirit of Christmas Fayre
29 Nov 2013
On November 21st I went along to the Spirit of Christmas fayre at the Cancer Research Wales shop in Talbot Green.
It was my first visit to the shop as I hadn’t been to the area in a long time. The store is much bigger than the ones I go to regularly and there was plenty of room for the Cantorion Pontyclun Ladies Choir to perform Christmas carols.
Lots of effort had gone into getting into the festive spirit; the organisers had even persuaded the Three Wise Men and Santa to drop in.
I needed to buy some Christmas cards and couldn’t resist the Starlit Cows design (£3.25 for 10 cards).
Other brilliant bilingual Christmas cards are available in Cancer Research Wales’ charity shops and online shop, from the Fundraising Team on 029 2031 6976, and from the outpatients department in Velindre Hospital.
Whilst listening to the choir and munching a mince pie I took the opportunity to have a good look around. The shop is large enough to have some furniture for sale and I spotted this gorgeous display cabinet. Unfortunately I don’t have space for it in my home but I’m sure someone will snap it up.
Sometimes my greatest charity shop finds are made when I’m not really looking. I was headed to the till to pay for my cards when I glimpsed the glittery green of this watch (£5, pictured below). I don’t know how old it is but I love its retro look and design, plus I can’t resist anything featuring this colour. I’d been thinking about getting a watch on a chain for a while so was really pleased to spot this.
