WALES FAMILY BIKE RIDE
SUNDAY 20th JUNE

We are looking forward to
the eleventh ‘ Tour de Cardiff’ Family Bike Ride. For those who have taken part
as cyclists or supporters in previous years and for those new to the event,
this years bike ride will certainly be a day to circle in you diary. As in
previous years, the bike ride will start and finish at the Pendragon Inn,
Excalibur Drive, Thornhill, Cardiff and will be followed by the traditional
barbecue.
The cycle route has been
designed to suit anyone who can ride a bike and although the first three or
four miles through Lisvane might be considered a bit on the steep side, most of
the following 22 miles or so is fairly flat. Cyclists go off in groups of ten
from 9.00am and as this is in no sense a race, don’t be put off by thinking you
have to break any records! Just turn up in plenty of time for our officials to
book you in and enjoy a gentle ride around Cardiff with the prospect of very
welcome refreshment and entertainment when you return to the Pendragon Inn two
or three hours later to collect you well earned medals.
The sponsor money collected
after the ride will go directly to Cancer Research Wales and unlike many
national charities who raise funds in Wales, every penny of the sponsorship
raised as a result of the Bike Ride will stay in Wales and will be used to fund
our pioneering research at our laboratories at the Velindre Hospital site which
has now been classed as a Centre of Excellence in Europe for our research into
vaccines for the treatment of cancer.

IMPORTANT
NOTES FOR ALL CYCLISTS
1. The
Bike Ride is open to anyone, but if any cyclist under 12 years old is taking
part a responsible adult must accompany him or her. The registration fee for
all cyclists, including children, is £5.00.
2. For
this year’s Bike Ride we will be selling T-shirts. They cost £8.00 each and
come in small, medium large and extra large sizes. We also have ladies slim fit
T-shirts in medium.
3. If
you and/or you family and friends opt to have a barbecue meal following the
ride, we will send you barbecue vouchers to use on the day. The vouchers cost
£3.00. Please keep the vouchers in a safe place, as you will need to produce
them to obtain your meal!!
4. Drinks
stations will be located along the route.
5. Please
ensure that you arrive at the Pendragon on plenty of time for the “off” at
9.00am.
6. Parking
is available at the Pendragon. If the car park becomes full we will direct you
to an alternate car park.
7. Most importantly, we need to raise
‘loads of money’ for Cancer Research Wales, so
please ask family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues—or anyone else you can
think of—to sponsor you. We will send you a sponsorship forms with your
information pack when we receive your completed registration form overleaf—you
could win £100 Reg Braddick Cycle
vouchers.
