Angela Bird
Angela Bird, from Whitchurch in Cardiff has been volunteering for Cancer Research Wales since retiring in 2010.
Angela formerly worked as a HR officer at UWIC and before that was a full-time manager at Cardiff Central Post Office.
Since retiring, Angela has been volunteering for one morning a week at the Cancer Research Wales Shop in Whitchurch.
Angela said “I’ve always supported cancer charities, as there is a history of cancer in my family; and volunteering is another way of showing my support.
“I also really enjoy volunteering at the shop, it’s always very busy, there’s a great atmosphere with the other staff, and we have a good laugh working together.
Having always worked in a busy environment, working at the shop and dealing with customers is something I’m used to and something I enjoy. I hope to give more hours when I can, as it’s a great cause and I’d hate to be at home twiddling my thumbs!”
