Dr D K L Davies OBE, FRCR
President of Cancer Research Wales

It is with great sadness that Cancer Research Wales records the death of its President. Dr D K L Davies was the last surviving Trustee of this charity founded as South Wales Cancer Research Council in 1966 and located at Velindre Hospital.

The important part that the charity plays in funding cancer research across Wales is indebted to his vision and leadership as a Trustee, Deputy Chairman, Chairman and generally as it's first President, a position the Charity was delighted to give him in 1995.

He was a true gentleman, a dedicated and committed worker for the Charity and he guided it through the last 40 years with kindness and compassion as he believed that by supporting cancer research we would ultimately find the cure. He was a tower of strength during some difficult years and this Charity is much poorer as a result of his death on October 9th after a long illness.

At his request the funeral service will be strictly private for family members only.
